Flagged for a submitted title which directly contradicts the actual article title, which is “Asha Sharma Says ‘Xbox Is Not For Sale’ Amid Concerns Microsoft’s Gaming Business Is Being Streamlined For A Spin-Off”

It's also a quote from a New York Times interview with her: https://www.nytimes.com/2026/09/30/arts/xbox-microsoft-asha-...

The full quote and context from the interview:

"But she did not stall when asked if her endgame at Xbox was divestiture.

'Xbox is not for sale,' Sharma said. 'We will do whatever it takes to set the company up for success, and we will look at the right partnerships, the right operating model and everything needed to achieve that.'

In boxing, they call that a bob and weave."

JV with Netflix might make sense.

Curiously enough, they have never said that Xbox will not sell, only that it is "not for sale" at this time. They have not even said they have no plans to sell Xbox in the future. They can change their mind at any time, and may very well indeed, so what they've said so far instills no confidence for me.

A common pattern is: gut the company for a fresh start -> have hope for a year or two -> lose hope because you're not seeing profits fast enough and then exit. Microsoft has been known to do this -- remember Nokia?

I can assure you my company is most definitely not for sale. Especially if you're trying to work out how much you need to offer for it.

Yeah, I suppose it could just mean they are looking for the right buyer and aren't interested in offers.
