“Is this a dead pixel or something else?” “Why do I see bright spots only on dark backgrounds?” “Is this fixable or a hardware issue?”
In most cases, the answer is: it’s a panel issue (backlight bleed, pressure damage, or mura), not software.
So I built a simple tool to help people quickly check their screens:
https://www.screenissues.com
What it does:
Fullscreen solid color tests (black, white, RGB) Helps identify: dead pixels vs bright spots backlight bleed uneven brightness (mura) Works instantly in the browser (no install)
Why I made this:
Most people don’t know how to diagnose screen problems. They try:
reinstalling drivers changing settings
But many display issues are actually hardware-related and won’t be fixed by software.
This tool gives a quick, visual way to confirm that in under a minute.
Would love feedback, especially:
What tests/features are missing? Mobile experience improvements? Any edge cases I didn’t cover?
